THE GREAT GADFLY:

Musicology

Today during lunch I went to the downtown Chicago Coconuts wrecka stow to buy the newly re-released version of this (an item which, by the way, will make any packaging hag's toes curl up in overwhelmed glee), and I noticed they had shelved nearly a dozen copies of this in the music section. Apparently someone in the Coconuts family of associates believes it to be a video compilation by some gritty indie rock band fronted by Dustin Hoffman.

Oh, if only.

Below this retail gaffe, tucked away in a hardly-concealed overstock bin, multiple copies of Wilco's "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" DVD were stashed away from the fickle eyes of casual consumption for some unknown reason...I couldn't help but note the back cover image of the Wilco boys in silouhette, strolling dejectedly down the Chicago lakeside as the city's skyline loomed ominously over them - hometown imagery completely lost in this windy city megastore.

Woe.
